Abstract
Authors¢¥ observed 86 Nodular Goiters, who had been performed with thyroidal lobectomy or subtotal thyroidectomy during the period since May, 1972 to October, 1977, on the basis of clinical records and pathological findings of the resected parts of gland.
Followings are the results ,observed in this study;
1. Among the 86 nodular goiters, female patients were 80 in numbers and only six male patients were observed
2. The major age distribution was in the range between 20 and 59 years of age.
3. Nontoxic nodular goiter was found in, 83 cases among the 86 patients with nodular goiters and 62 cases of these 83 nontoxic nodular goiters¢¥ were solitary nodular goiters.
4. High proportion of multinodular goiter was observed in older age group over 40-year-old,
5. According to the pathological findings, we divided the goitrous nodules into six categories, e: g.;
a. Follicular adenoma 50.3% b. Papillary carcinoma 14%
c. Undifferentiated carcinoma 2.3%
d. Medullary carcinoma1.2%
e. Hashimoto¢¥s thyroiditis 3.5%
f. Nonspecific nodule 26.7%. We made observation of high probability of malignancy in toxic or multinodular goiter.
7: There was no statistically significant correlation between 1311-uptake rates and pathological findings.
